It all started in the spring of 2005 when my husband, Matt, attended Woodbadge and became a bear. For our anniversary that year, I surprised him with a maple teddy bear with a handmade boy scout shirt, and a backpack full of food fit for a bear. He took this little critter with him when he served on staff the following year and everyone loved him.
Matt called and asked me to make one for the scoutmaster of the course and word began to spread. Every South Florida Council course director since then has been given a unique critter, and several other woodbadgers have ordered one.
This wasn't the only bear I got my husband, but I can't take credit for making the seocnd one. He was given the nickname "Spock" when he served on staff, so I found an appropriate buddy for his scout bear.
Each year I have added something new to the initial boy scout uniform. The first additions were the Woodbadge regalia, then the OA flap and sash were added, and now I can even turn your scout into an Eagle Scout. I have already looked into making a sea scout and girl scout as well as cub scouts.
